15mm Napoleonic Game Report: Freisadt 1809 French vs Austrian(Picture Heavy).

Posties Rejects met up on Sunday for a 15mm napoleonic french vs austrian game using General de Brigade with house rule changes.There were 6 of us John, Ian, Lee, Richard, Surjit and myself and the umpire Postie of course,there were 6 divisions present with 3 per side with virtually identical forces per side for a meeting engagement that was fictitious but could have happened.

The French:
John:1st Division(French):1st Brigade,3 battalions of the 36th line and 1 battalion of the 30th line.2nd Brigade,1 battalion of the 27th and 3 battalions if the 10th leger(elite).3rd Brigade,1st and 5th regiments of cuirassiers(elite).1 heavy and 1 medium batteries of artillery.
Richard:2nd Division(Saxon):4th Brigade,2 battalions of Prinz Max,1 battalion of Prinz Anton and 1 battalion of light infantry(elite).5th Brigade,3 battalions of grenadiers(elite),1 battalion guard(elite).6th Brigade,1 regiment each of Albrecht chevau-leger and 1st Hussars.1 heavy and 1 light batteries of artillery.
Ian:3rd Division(Bavarian):7th Brigade,2 battalions of Kronprinz and 2 battalions of Prinz Carl infantry.8th Brigade,2 battalions of Herzog Wilhelm and 1 battalion of Herzog Pivs infantry and 1 battalion of light infantry(elite).9th Brigade,1 regiment each of the 1st and 6th chevau-leger.1 medium gun battery.

The Austrians:
Surjit:1st Division:1st Brigade,4 battalions of German grenadiers(elite).2nd Brigade,4 battalions of Hungarian grenadiers(elite).3rd Brigade,1st and 2nd regiments cuirassiers(elite).1 heavy and 1 light batteries of artillery.
Lee:2nd Division:4th Brigade,2 battalions each of the german 24th and 14th line.5th Brigade,3 battalions of the 34th hungarian line and 1 battalion of jagers(elite).6th Brigade,1 regiment each of the 3rd and 4th Hussars(elite).1 heavy and 1 light battery of artillery.
Me:3rd Division:7th Brigade,2 battalions each of the 8th and 18th German line.8th Brigade,3 battalions of the 61st Hungarian line and 1 battalion of jagers(elite).9th Brigade,1 regiment each of the 2nd and 4th chevau-leger,1 light battery of artillery.

This was a meeting engagement and it became a hard fought slog with cavalry regiments killed to a man and even cavalry brigades being wiped out,4 brigade commanders died and a divisional commander went into the void aswell and as you will see with the pictures it came down to the wire 16-15 to the Austrians.Good game over 6 turns.

The slog on our left(Austrian) flank with bavarian cavalry in full retreat,they would later rout when they failed their morale.

The cavalry (austrian and saxon) clash on the right flank,brigade and divisional commanders attached.

One of the Saxon regiments in full retreat with me in pursuit and one of mine pushed back with heavy losses and the Saxons then hit one of my infantry battalions and pushed it back with heavy losses.

Lunchtime for Surjit, Lee and John. 

I got round the Saxon flank and 1 inch less this column would have not gotten into square,I won but did not break it.

15mm figures posing as 28mm figures: Terminators

Wanted to add some bits and pieces to my 28mm terminator forces but could not find anything I liked or could afford(£60.00 for a painted HK tank) in 28mm, so while at SELWG I picked up some 15mm pieces from GZG and painted them up to go with what I had and I think they work with the 28mm Copplestone Castings terminators in the pictures.
The big boy is a 15mm VTOL, the double gun boys are listed as gunbots and the little boys with aerials(the aerials are paper clips) are listed as wheeled drone with sensors.I mean to use them as remote guarding drones for facilities or urban areas.

Wargaming models, what's acceptable?

Spent part of the day making this 15mm VTOL model I bought from GZG games at the SELWG 2010 show, it was an impulse buy and I am or was going to use it with my 28mm terminators as a hunter killer gunship variant, so I bought one with the idea if it looked alright with the 28mm stuff I already have I would get more.So far so good.

It was a terrible model to make, heavy mold lines, lots of flash, parts of the model where the metal had not formed and a lot of holes where I do not think there should be anyway, which with application of green stuff and copious superglue I put it together and took a picture.One of the engine pieces developed metal fatigue and the plug that inserts into the body fell off which required green stuff.

There were no instructions(you do not always get them) so I used a picture from the website to use as a guide, there is no flying stand(you do not always get them) but that model in the picture appears to be in better condition than mine in my opinion.Now I am not the best model maker in the world but this has annoyed me and I will try and sort out the problems with it and probably still use it.What i am trying to say is am I too fussy and would you accept bad quality in any model you purchased.

Do you have a better horror story about something like this and what you are willing to put up with?

15mm ACW Game Pictures and Postie's Reject's.(Picture Heavy)

The gang met up at the weekend for a 15mm ACW game using the Fire and Fury rule system(which should be called the 1 and fury rules as I threw so many of them but these rules do kill you on the dice).The whole group was there except for Dave and we had a new member Lee from http://bigleesminipaintingblog.blogspot.com/ ,the game was a hard fought slog with nobody getting the decisive upper hand and in the end it turned into a minor victory for the union which meant for me being on the confederate side was a loss(did I mention I hate fire and fury rules,if you are not rolling a 1, when you roll a 9 or 10 your opponent does aswell).

But this is not the main reason for wargaming at the weekend or when you get a chance and everybody gets together, its the the banter, slagging, laughter(everybody), weirdness(Ray,see picture) shouting, crying(Ian), lunacy(Lee) and plain old fashioned fun.

Painting for other people?

Spent my painting time over the weekend painting some 15mm napoleonic russian cavalry for a friend and will be for a little time longer as I am having difficulty painting them as the reference material is sparse and vague also the hating of 15mm figures is not helping as I now only paint 28mm for myself but the customer is nearly always right and I hope to finish them this week.
Watched the Sherlock Holmes TV series on BBC1 last night and really enjoyed it and look forward to the next two.
