The HMCS Charlottetown’s seventh annual Run4Wishes in aid of the Children’s Wish Foundation left North Cape Tuesday and arrived in Alberton just before noon. The relay team expects to be at the Summerside Sobeys by 5:30 p.m. They hope to cover the entire province in four days, raising money for their ship’s charity along the way.

ALBERTON – Dylan Allain from St. Louis is the most veteran of the runners participating in the HMCS Charlottetown’s seventh annual Run4Wishes and he is not even a crew member.
This is the Grade 6 St. Louis Elementary School student’s fourth year of running with the crew.
“I run, and I hop on the bus,” he said, explaining he takes his turn along the course.
The four-day run started yesterday in North Cape.
Allain and his school are also significant contributors to the ship’s cause, the Children’s Wish Foundation. The school raised $727 for the cause and he and his family organized fundraisers that brought in another $500.
Crewmembers held fundraisers onboard the ship and they are accepting donations along the route.
There are 23 crewmembers participating in the relay run this year but only Mary Landry is a returning runner. The ship’s medic is on her third run for the cause.
The crew has been training for months for this marathon that will see them cover 50 to 100 kilometres a day.
Landry said the runners are receiving lots of encouragement and refreshment along the route, which came in handy on a hot Tuesday.
Last year, the team raised over $67,000 on the Island - the single largest amount ever raised by the Run4Wishes.
