Lisa Jackson: The Face of Evil

I mean, just look at her:

No, there's no twirly mustache, cheek-length zipper scar or a clover-shaped "666" embossed on her forehead. It's of a different sort, almost what Hannah Arendt called the banality of evil. The puffy, well fed cheeks, the smug smile of self-righteousness, and the call for all to sacrifice their freedom to her.

Seriously. When you give someone the power to literally regulate the gases (CO2) you exhale...

Ayn Rand knows it when she sees it:

A bureaucrat can force you to work for him, when he achieves the totalitarian power he seeks; he can force you to accept any payment he offers—or none, as witness the forced labor camps in the countries of full statism.

The businessman’s tool is values; the bureaucrat’s tool is fear.

“America’s Persecuted Minority: Big Business,”
Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal, 48

Even more to the (economic) point:

A bureaucrat’s success depends on his political pull. A businessman cannot force you to buy his product; if he makes a mistake, he suffers the consequences; if he fails, he takes the loss. A bureaucrat forces you to obey his decisions, whether you agree with him or not—and the more advanced the stage of a country’s statism, the wider and more discretionary the powers wielded by a bureaucrat. If he makes a mistake, you suffer the consequences; if he fails, he passes the loss on to you, in the form of heavier taxes.

I've written about Jackson, The Jersey Girl from Hell before - she's a political EnvironmentalSlut, forcing regulations on the population that will please her bosses and allow her to move up the power grid, so to speak. She has ruled by fear, and her victims have always been the little guys...

And how bad was Jackson's NJ Department of Environmental Protection ? Jersey bad. And in a twist that can only happen within an Obama administration, just as Lisa Jackson was taking over the EPA, they were issuing a scathing report on the miserable, crooked, inept mess she left behind at the NJ-DEP:

The audit and its critique of DEP performance provide an awkward instance of the agency Jackson used to run coming under criticism by the agency she heads now...

Read it all, it's a great window into what pre-Christie New Jersey looked like, and what the Obama administration is comprised of now...

But I see that four Democrats are co-sponsoring a bill to halt her power grab, and many more Blue Dogs and coal-staters will likely vote for it when it hits the floor. Maybe we've gotten a little more attuned to the danger that is facing us domestically, and maybe we are realize that evil doesn't always dress up in a swastika or a beard...
