The Bunny Hop - The 2010 Race Season has begun!

It was foggy and 9 degrees. The Bunny Hop run at DQ. The official start of race season on PEI. The 5km run was added this year. The out and back course on North River Rd, Maypoint Rd. and Beach Grove Rd. Connor McGuire of St. FX won the 10km race and Jenn Nicholson for the top female. Ryan Doucette won the 5km race and Shelley Simmons-MacLeod for the top female. I finished in 47:00 and came in 68th out of 169 runners. Next week I will run the half marathon in WR3 race.

McGuire, Nicholson top runners in Bunny Hop 10K race

CHARLOTTETOWN - Connor McGuire of Summerside and Jen Nicholson of Cornwall were the top runners in the 10-kilometre event of the 33rd annual Dairy Queen/Source for Sports Bunny Hop Road Race here recently.
McGuire, 18, had a time of 32 minutes 52 seconds (32:52), and was just five seconds off Stanley Chaisson's course record.
Mike MacKinnon (34:10) and Rob MacKenzie (35:17) rounded out the top three overall finishers.
Nicholson, 41, set a new female course record - 37:58. She was ninth overall out of 169 runners.
Kristy Newson, 34, was the second female to finish, 19th overall, in 40:42, and Rebecca Pike, 24, came third in the female category. She was 28th overall and her time was 41:24.

5K
In the five-kilometre event, Ryan Doucette, 20, was the overall winner in 19:42.
Shelley Simmons-MacLeod of Summerside was the top-placing female in 20:21. She was third overall out of 60 runners.
