Brookvale Ultra Trail Marathon


It was sunny and 27 degrees.

The Brookvale Ultra Trail Marathon at Brookvale Provincial Park.

The 10km race on the nordic ski trails and mountain bike trails. It was tough run.

Scott Clark won the 10K race and Ardelle Hynes for the top female.

I finshed in 1:07:31 and came in 8th out of 24 runners.

Steven Baglole won the 25km race and Loretta Van Ekris and Diane Boswall tie for the top female.

Leo McCosham won the 50K ultra marathon trail race and Jennifer Nickerson for the top female.

I was a good time on steep climbs, roots and single file on trail.

Official Result: 8th out of 24
10K in 1 hour, seven minutes and 31 seconds

Flavell finishes third in 50-km event

BROOKVALE — Albert Flavell of Summerside finished third overall in the 50-kilometre portion of the Brookvale Ultra Trail Marathon here recently.
Flavell, 39, finished with a race time of six hours, four minutes 39 seconds (6:04:39). Leo McCosham was the overall winner in 5:33:41 and Gary Simmonds was second in 5:59:16.
Cheryl Tanton and Paul Burnley, both of Summerside, tied for seventh in 7:59:00.
In the 25-kilometre marathon, 32-year-old Steven Baglole was the first-place overall finisher in 2:13:40. Paul Baglole (2:14:03) and Justin Pozin (2:16:02) rounded out the top three.
Scott Clark of Summerside won the 10-kilometre event. Clark, 45, who had a time of 54:14, finished ahead of Ardelle Hynes (55:35) and Mark McCosham (56:19).
The 25-kilometre course used the Brookvale Provincial Park Nordic ski trails, single mountain bike trails, heritage roads and Provincial Forestry Demo Woodlot trails. The 50-kilometre participants did the course twice.
